Smoke-Free Housing New England is a consulting group with the mission to eliminate involuntary exposure to secondhand smoke in New England’s multi-unit properties.
Our goals include:
- Increase the number of multi-unit residents who live free from secondhand smoke.
- Increase the number of multi-unit buildings in New England that have smoke-free policies.
- To ensure that the supply of smoke-free units within New England meets the demand.
Smoke-Free Housing New England (SFHNE) is made up of two experts from the field of secondhand smoke exposure prevention: Amy Olfene and Tina Harnett Pettingill, MPH.
Amy and Tina have been instrumental in the smoke-free housing movement in Maine, helping transition thousands of units to smoke-free and earning National acclaim for their success in Maine.
Tina and Amy have both spoken and consulted on a national level multiple times and at various venues throughout New England.
Tina is the chair and founder of the Smoke-Free Housing Coalition of Maine and operates as a consultant to the group. Amy is the former director of the Coalition.
Smoke-Free Housing New England is pleased to offer consulting services to all of the New England states. Our consulting services promise to offer you creative solutions based on sound data and years of experience.
Services are provided to housing professionals looking to adopt, implement or enforce smoke-free policies, as well as organizations and programs looking to develop smoke-free housing programs, initiatives sand campaigns. Smoke-Free Housing New England can also provide sound advice and services to lawmakers, advocates, financers and other looking to develop legislation or incentives regarding smoke-free multi-unit housing.
